I love how Bryony talks about “a feeling all day long that you wish you could put in a bottle and keep“! I can only imagine how amazing this day was… and I can tell from the images that every second was cherished. Truly a day to remember forever!

Bryony looks stunning in her Suzanne Neville dress, which she accessorised prettily with handmade earrings and a diamond bracelet. Sam totally looks the part in Austin Reed tails and a shirt from TM Lewin – aren’t they just the most gorgeous couple?

The English Wedding Blog interview: Sam and Bryony

Wedding photographer’s website:

http://www.johnbarwoodphotography.co.uk

Were you pleased with your wedding photographer?

Yes, very much so.

Wedding venue:

Orchardleigh House

Wedding date:

04/10/14

Can you describe your wedding in a single sentence?

The most amazing day ever and a feeling all day long that you wish you could put in a bottle and keep.

What was your reaction to seeing your wedding photos for the first time?

Impressed by the quality but also great to see some creativity and artistic license being used rather than just the ‘classic’ shots that everybody sees so often.

Your wedding style or theme:

Traditional but with lots of fun personal touches added throughout.

Where did you find your suppliers?

Mixture of recommendation and wedding fairs.

Best bit of budget advice?

Always have a few plan B’s because you’ll always go over budget! (oh and make stuff!)

Wedding invitations and on the day stationery:

Classic design on white leaf and hand made place cards etc…

Did you fall in love with your wedding dress?

Yes, it was the first dress I tried on! Couldn’t think about any others after seeing it so just had to go back!

Wedding dress designer and bridal boutique:

Suzanne Neville – Bridal Boutique, The Muse, Clifton, Bristol.

Glitz and sparkle – the bride’s accessories:

Hand made earrings by ‘Vintage Button Bridal Designs’, diamond bracelet. The dress had glitz and sparkle so I didn’t want to over do it!

Suited and booted – the groom wore:

Dark grey hired tails from Austin Reed, TM Lewin shirts with Windsor Collar, tie pin.

Beautiful bridesmaids: what did your best girls wear?

Midnight blue debut long dress from Debenhams.

Hair and make-up – did you DIY or hire a professional?

Melanie Giles did all the hair – Bradford on Avon.

Wedding flowers:

Various pastels, whites, pinks, purples.

General styling – did your venue need much decoration?

No, its a wonderful grand country house with its own character and decor.

DIY – tell us about any handcrafted elements of your wedding…

We made whisky bottles with bespoke labels (and cold tea inside for genuine whisky look!) for our table plan. We laid them on straw in old wooden crates to give it that vintage cellar effect.

The wedding cake: traditional or quirky?

A traditional looking four tier with lemon curd, carrot cake, orange and poppy seed. (loved the lemon curd so much we had it in two layers!)

Entertainment:

A magician entertaining tables at the wedding breakfast, an amazing band called ‘The Cover-up band’ from Brighton, and a friend DJ-ing in to the early hours.

On the day tips and advice:

Find a quiet corner where the two of you can have a look over everybody and take some mental photographs otherwise it will all rush by in a flash! Make time to drink, dance and have fun, you don’t have to meet and greet the whole day away!

What’s the best thing about being married?

Getting to say ‘my wife’ or ‘my husband’! (It still feels weird now! ) Having the memories to share and look back on of our special day, and just being married and best friends – double win!
